Coffee is traditionally guzzled from a cup. The beverage is consumed globally in a cup that is either disposable or has a handle.

The thought of drinking coffee from a dish sounds impossible because the beverage could not hold a lot of coffee, and that it will spill easily over the edges.

Cups have a purpose to hold and contain liquid. Should coffee be slurped from a dish would change the perception and engagement to coffee. Customers may struggle holding a dish, or create their own cup to use. Or, refuse to drink coffee, but for its biggest fans, which are in the millions, if not billions, of drinkers, would figure out to consume the beverage.

Consumers although appreciate or take for granted a container that holds a beverage like coffee in a cup, it is the coffee that is needed to create that cup.

To focus on what is consumed then figure out how its packaging and container holds it is key. You need the product, however, before the container.

Coffee may never be served in dishes and meals in cups, but if the dish can also transform into a cup, then you have a new market opportunity.
