Spoilers for stuff near the end of GreedFall

Butch:

OK, I tried to finish, I did.  This is not my fault.

Sweet Naked Zeus there are a lot of end game boss fights.  The high king?  Not one but TWO corrupted guardians?

But for that, and the sheer, inexplicable density of de Sardet....

I just rifled through Constantin's notes and found out he goes outside the city and wanted to yell "See girlfriend?  Been saying this for weeks!"  I restrained myself.

What in the actual fuck, game?  High king, two corrupted guardians, and that's not even the end?  Game.  Please.
This was made far worse by the rapidity of them.  All those monsters THEN the guardians?  Back to back?  Back to back QUESTS like that?  I'd say it was OK if the forest merchant had, like, ammo, but he didn't!  Way to strip me of all my resources, game.  Not cool.

Not cool on many levels.

I'd finish, but I just did two boss fights and I'm tired.  Tomorrow.  Seriously.

Unless there's 27 more quests, which there might be.

Feminina:

It really does have a lot of pre-end endlike stuff, this game. I kept thinking I was about to be done, and then finding there was all this additional stuff.

I don't think there are 27 more quests, but it does go on. A bit too long, honestly. I was getting to the point where I just wanted to be finished, not because I disliked the game but just because I was tired of feeling like I HAD to be almost done.

Butch:

You know how I feel about end game boss fights in general, and now I'm up to three.  That's at least two too many.

It's never a good thing when you think that a game (or book, or movie, or or or) had several places it could have ended, yet it is still going.

I can see doing the High King bit, making it seem like the end then going HA! TWIST! It's your COUSIN (which everyone but de Sardet saw coming), but these extra two bosses and waves of animals?  Very unnecessary.  I thought I would finish yesterday because, narrative wise, it should have ended yesterday.   Now I've done the exciting high king bit, I sure hope I'll finish next time I play, and those two things were separated by a LONG playing session that really had no point.   At least, as of now I cannot see the point.

Talk about breaking up narrative momentum.   I played almost two hours last night!  This game should have had less than two hours left in it when I sat down last night.

I agree with you: I don't dislike the game.  I like it far more than I thought I would.  But Sweet Naked Zeus get on with it.

Feminina:

Yeah...you're definitely going to have at least three too many by the actual end.

Which is near! -ish.

Butch:

Christ, still ISH?

This isn't "Find Constantin, have cutscene, kill Constantin in battle that irks me, credits?"

I was sorta hoping for that.  Tie a bow on it tonight.

Feminina:

That will definitely happen!

Presently.

Have you gotten a new high king? You have to do that first.

Butch:

Oh yeah!  Did that.  Past that.

I gave the crown to Derdre and instantly questioned myself.  Siora seemed to like the idea, so I went with it.

You?

Feminina:

OK, then you really are pretty close.

I also gave it to Derdre--I was leaning toward Dunncas because he seemed the most interested in working out some kind of common ground between the natives and the colonists, which seemed like perhaps the most practical plan, but then Derdre showed up in the cave and I didn't want to fight her so I just let her have it, to be honest.

Plus, screw the colonists, I'll get behind her plan to drive them all out, why the hell not? I thought Dunncas' idea might have a better chance of success, but from a moral standpoint, sure, I'm on board with Derdre. Get the hell out, foreign invaders!

Butch:

HA!  I did the same.  I like Duncass.  He seems a nice sort.

But then I realized I kinda hate all the colonists.  Fuck 'em.

Aaaaaand we're the same person again.

Feminina:

Yup. I figured we would be.

Except you have a romance and I don't, which often seems to be the case.

Unlucky in love, that's me.

Butch:

I do.  You blew it.

Actually, I thought you'd go with Duncass.  Should've known we're the same.

Feminina:

I just didn't want to kill Derdre...I was tired of boss fights already, man.

Butch:

And yet there were so many more to come.

Feminina:

Precisely why it was a good idea to just give Derdre the damn crown and avoid at least one of them.

Butch:

Wise.  Diplomats must be practical.
