This is a post I just placed on Sffworld.com and thought you guys might enjoy it too. Let me know your thoughts.

So, some time ago I created this image and mentioned that it was only half of the picture because it was supposed to be the robot terminator of an alien race. I planned to do a second half that would show the robot unencumbered by the exoskeleton. Lately I have been getting itchy to create that other half, but I have this problem.

With the human terminator, it is okay to have pistons representing muscles of humans on the outside of the frame. You can at least pretend that the way they are placed would be hidden under the skin and muscles. The problem I have is that I chose an insect race. What do I do with that? How do I represent that in a now exposed robot?

So I have a question for the brainiacs here that has come to mind for me, do insects have muscles? How do they move their limbs. Only thing I have ever seen after killing one is a big pile of goo. In amongst that goo, is there some form of muscle? I thought this might be a fun and maybe gross topic to open up.
