Oh boy, so November's over and gone, eh? The month where the holidays truly begin to ramp up, the weather changes and writers busy their pens, keyboards and quills to attempt to write 50,000 words in 30 days. I promised that I'd write a NaNoWriMo wrap-up, since I participated in it this year. Not truly surprisingly, it's going to be a...very short wrap-up, indeed.
Goal Recap
Quick recap: as you may have read from my original announcement post, I was aiming for a traditional NaNoWriMo experience. The goal was to write 50,000 words, writing roughly 1.6K a day and recreating some semblance of a writing routine. I started on my (then untitled) WIP and hoped to get roughly almost half of the zero draft written.
So, how did it go? Well...
How I Did
I mean, we could let the stats speak for themselves:
Truly, though, your girl started off strong! While I did claim that I wanted to write 50,000 words (which would mean that 1.6K I mentioned), that wasn't my true goal. My true goal was just write regularly. To prove that I could make writing a priority, find time to write even when I thought I had none.
And I did that.
For about a week.
There's a lesson in there, somewhere. It actually ties in some struggles I've had with writing in general, which I plan to write about on this blog here soon (so, I don't want to spoiler that too much by diving into it here).
In Sum
So, this is a very brief post, all to say that yes, I certainly did not win NaNoWriMo this year. Congrats to everyone who did!! To my fellows who failed alongside me, remember that it is not true failure: we can always try again tomorrow.
