This class will be an exciting entry on how to start a business. Everything from simply registering your business as a sole proprietor, to choosing to get into partnership with someone else for your business, such as your parents even, people that you trust in order to start your business. This class can also help you to understand the role that you can play in your family's business if your family owns a business, or, if you have a brand new idea of something out there such as creating mobile digital applications, apps, to put on the market, or video games that you would like to distribute or sell, or sell comic books, and magazines, or newspapers, or even books, or dolls, or other toys, basically the focus of the class will be on how you can make money from your own ideas, or to play a more important role in your family's business, as well as to learn how to start a business. This class will also have you start a business plan as homework. Week 1: The format of the class will be that each week (with a pre-recorded class for the learners to view) by Monday, there will be a first-class introduction of myself by pre-recorded video, with also a written on the class page in both business plan writing format, and then the teacher, myself, will provide writing prompts to stimulate your business ideas and a chance for the learners to introduce themselves to the teacher, (with the option of doing so via a pre-recorded video as well), plus introduce themselves to the other learners, during a time that is right for you and suits your schedule since this class is a flexible schedule class for that week. There will be teacher interaction by providing helpful comments and feedback for the writing of learners, plus supportive learning occurring from other learners in the class providing helpful comments and feedback for the writing of other learners on the class page. There will also be a lesson plan provided in the Outschool classroom. Homework for Learners: Come up with your business idea and write it down. Teacher Interaction: Providing feedback on the learners' business ideas. Week 2: Again this week with a pre-recorded video to view to guide the week's lesson focusing on your business idea. There will be more writing prompts/discussion posts that will help to guide the learners' business ideas and business foundations and structures based on a variety of child-focused topics. There will also be a lesson plan provided for this week. There will also be group discussions on the class page on the topic of the week done concerning the business ideas and feedback from other learners. Homework for Learners: To participate in the group discussions and create a business ideas group with feedback and discussion on the class page based on business ideas. Teacher Interaction: To facilitate the group discussions and provide feedback to group discussion results and individual learners on business ideas. Week 3: This week will focus solely on writing and creating the business plan and there will be a pre-recorded video posted to the class page that will provide a lesson on how to write a business plan. There will be assignments posted to the class page for the learners to write about 5 pages of a business plan based on any topic of their choice for a business and the other learners will comment on the business plan that the other learners post to the class page in order to stimulate class interaction. Where necessary, the teacher will ask more pointed and directed questions on the class page to encourage equal participation of all learners in the class. There will also be a lesson plan provided for the class. Homework for Learners: Learners are to write in business plan format. Other learners will comment on the business plan of the other learners in the class. Teacher Interaction: Providing an informal assessment of the business plans of the learners. Week 4: There will be a pre-recorded video of the class. There will also be a lesson plan provided for the class focusing on online businesses and marketing your business. Homework for Learners: Learners will do a plan of their online business, plus a marketing plan based on different child-focused topics for a business. Teacher Interaction: To provide any answers to questions that the learners have. Overall Teacher Interaction and Learners' interaction: Everyone can comment and participate in your writing and provide feedback, plus I will provide guidance on your business ideas and business plan, as well as the other learners, throughout the four weeks of this class. I will also be providing weekly writing prompts for all of the learners in the class to respond. I will provide feedback and some editing in terms of grammar, punctuation, and spelling, and other learners can interact with the other learners by providing happy feedback and happy comments based on what you have written. Any learner that is disruptive to the class will be booted out of the class, or at least requested to apologize to the other learner. This will be a safe space of safe learning, and positive learning, as you as the learner have the opportunity to grow and to develop with your business knowledge. As well, it is still a good class for those learners who either want to test out their business ideas and to write a business plan. If you would like to add photos that can turn into cartoons with your business plan, we will discuss how to do this as well with such online applications as BeFunky. Please note: There are no specific times for this class. The learner works at their own pace. This is why it is a flexible schedule class. The lessons are prepared each week and the learner has the entire week to work at their own pace.
