The Making of a Book Club With Dr. Donna
This group is focused on those learners and supportive parents who have published a book in Dr. Donna's The Making of a Book class on Outschool, plus those Outschool learners who are interested in the class The Making of a Book, and the worldwide public wanting to join The Making of a Book class! Learners will share what they're learning, get feedback on their book projects, and input into images, the publishing process, and making being a child author a business!
Each month, we'll have a book club focusing on one or more of the books that the child authors have done. The learners will do a reading of your book to other child authors, or those aspiring child authors who would like to ask you questions about your book, plus ask me, the moderator of the group any questions about publishing their book, or The Making of a Book class in general already enrolled or wanting to enroll. As a moderator, I will also do readings from my own close to 200 books and showcase my audiobooks as examples of writing that can be done by interested learners and families. There will be daily postings to this group for all participants to read and engage with some original writing prompts to keep the group discussions going.
An example of interactions in the class will be the published child authors reading from their published book(s) and taking questions from other members in the group, plus providing insights on where and how their books can be purchased via the postings. Other activities that will be included in this group will be the moderator focusing on increased ways that low-cost book marketing can be done for the existing child authors, existing learners in The Making of a Book, plus interested learners in The Making of a Book, plus the Short Story Challenge on Amazon for an eBook class also taught by me (Dr. Donna).
The interactions will occur daily and the postings will be done daily. The price of the class is per month, at just the minimal cost of about what it would be to purchase one hardcover book a month 😍 Join the Outschool learners and community in this group to expand on your interests in the written and audible words of writing, plus to ensure that your own books reach a wider audience with advertising opportunities, plus be inspired to write more books, or to finish the manuscript that you are currently working on, plus to start and finish a book manuscript.

Example of the moderator's work:
Opening scene: It's Cindy's last year of high school at Stephen Leacock Collegiate in Scarborough, Ontario. Her friend Gino and Cindy sit on a bus on our way to downtown Toronto. A man boards the bus and immediately screams at the passengers standing in the bus aisle who he thinks deliberately blocks his path.
Gino: "He's nine-nine-nine. He's nine-nine-nine.
Cindy: What does that mean?"
Gino: "It means he's crazy. He's from 999 Queen Street (a psychiatric hospital at the time) and he's a loon!"
Cindy sits quietly and fidgets with my hands. Cindy stares at the man's facial tics and listens intently to his babble about "spies" and "the devil coming" and "the end of the world."

The reason for this is because the sections accommodate multiple learners in the class whose length of time for completing a book towards publication would vary. You can start, stop, or continue the class whenever you would want to. The goal is for the learner to complete the manuscript so that I, as the teacher can help with the publication of the book including potential assistance with images if wanted and needed, plus formatting the book and guiding with the uploading to Amazon and Lulu.com (optional). Kobo.com is useful for those learners who come from Commonwealth countries.

Please note: The Making of a Book boot camp is also available by request at any time that is convenient for you.

Please also note: This is a professional writing class for children in order to produce a marketable book. Your journey to a completed manuscript begins with the first complete sentence. Please don't worry too much about the rest. Just keep writing! It will be complete if you keep writing!

Other things that will be discussed are cover design, adding images to your book, and the online publishing process tips with Amazon and Lulu.com, plus Kobo.com for those learners in Commonwealth countries.
The business components of being a child author will also be discussed.
