HBO Max preparing IT prequel by PS The origins of Pennywise are about to be revealed, with news that HBO Max is preparing a prequel series to Stephen King's IT. Currently known as Welcome to Derry, the show will feature the period prior to events chronicled in the recent IT Part 1 movie (King's book moves between the two time periods, unlike the Muschietti movies). Jason Fuchs is penning the script with Andy Muschietti on board to direct the opening episode, and WB has opened a writers' room to prepare the scripts.
