What about innovations to make packages interesting and attention-grabbing. Packaging serves the purpose to market, promote, and contain the item. There are times when other packaging grabs the customer's attention. And when they don't and need a refresh the brand will make changes to the label.
Wesson is going with a sleeker label while removing the visual and Starbucks is updating its coffee packaging with vibrant colors and visuals. Customers will purchase their products regardless because of their brand but others may have to work harder.
The product attention business is fierce especially as consumers consider their spending budgets. Packaging that relates to the customer and keeps the products intact are key, however, new labels and new ways to package products that extend shelf life and customer loyalty are something worth striving for.
