What will be taught are the style guide formats used in the arts, social sciences, sciences, law, history, and more that are needed at the university and college level in order to write A+ papers. You will also learn many tips about how to write A+ essays and papers for university, as well as good online research skills, and how to use online libraries, as well as physical libraries, and get the best out of research endeavors at the library. Tips on good self-editing and proofreading advice and practice will also be included in this course. You will have ample practice at writing good essays and performing and conducting strong research skills for the areas that you want to study in school. This class will help your child to not only write strong essays in a variety of formats such as research, expository, persuasive, college essays, and many others, this class will help your child to become prepared for the rigors for university and college and to be ahead of the game in terms of post-secondary education. This is a superb class to prepare your children for postsecondary education, either college or university, and to receive the best grades past high school.
With a maximum of 20 to 30 minutes of lecture time, the rest of the class will be structured in a format where there will be in-class assignments of smaller essays of 500 to 1000 words with assignment guidelines and grading rubrics provided. Homework that would be assigned would consist of longer-form essays of 2000 words to 3000 words to be due every two weeks of the class duration.
The essays will be graded according to the grading rubric, with A-pluses assigned to those essays which most adhere to the applicable style guide format.
Students will also have the opportunity to fully understand the various areas of study at the postsecondary level of education for college and university.

Course Outline:
Week 1: Meet and greet and introduction of the American Psychological Association Style guide (APA), as well as the relevant disciplines that this style guide is used for in postsecondary education. In-class writing of a short 300-words personal essay using some APA techniques. Non-graded.
Homework: Write a 500-words essay using APA techniques. Graded.
Week 2: Continuation of APA style guide. In-class assignment of 500-words persuasive essay with assignment guidelines and grading rubric provided. Graded.
Homework: Write a 750-words essay using APA techniques. Graded.
Week 3: Introduction of the Modern Languages Association style guide (MLA). Discussion of applicable academic disciplines for this style guide format. In-class of 1,000-words essay using MLA. If not completed, assigned as homework.
Homework: Complete in-class assignment. Graded.
Week 4: Continuation of MLA style techniques. Write 1,500-words in-class essays. If not completed, assigned as homework.
Homework: Complete in-class assignment. Graded.
Week 5: Introduction of the Council for Science Editors (CSE) style guide used in scientific disciplines. Discussion of the academic subjects this is used for. Write an in-class essay of 500-words using CSE format. Non-graded.
Homework: Write a 1,000-word essay using the CSE format. Graded.
Week 6: Continuation of discussion of CSE format. In-class assignment of 1,500-words essay using CSE format. Homework is to complete the in-class essay.
Homework: Complete the CSE 1,500-words essay. Graded.
Week 7: Introduction to the Chicago Manual of Style (CMS) guide. Discussion of the academic disciplines it is used for. In-class assignment to write a 500-words essay using CMS. Non-graded.
Homework: Complete a 1,000-words essay using a CMS style guide. Graded.
Week 8: Continuation of teachings on CMS style guide. In-class assignment of writing a 1,500-word essay. Homework is to complete the in-class essay.
Homework: Complete 1,500 words essay. Graded.
