Fun With the Harmonica for Kids: Learn to Play Single Notes
This 4-week class will be conducted via email and Zoom.
Hey, Learners out there on Donna Magazine! This class is for child learners. Not only with this class do you receive free eBooks and an audiobook that is done by the teacher, but you also receive a certificate of achievement for accomplishing the single notes on a harmonica that is necessary to play the harmonica. If you already know how to play single notes on a harmonica, you will have the opportunity in this class to practice your harmonica playing and learn some beginners' techniques for playing the harmonica. Plus, there will be some quick and handy tips on how you can take care of your harmonica so if and when you purchase one it can be a long-term investment that most likely you can receive help to purchase.
Your teacher, me, well, I learned how to play the harmonica about 15 years ago and taught myself how to play it with the assistance of a friend of mine. We would play the harmonica together in our spare time for practice and my friend and I would also play the guitar!
If you don't know anything about the harmonica, this class is also good for discovering more about an instrument that you may want to take more interest in. As well, if you know a lot about the harmonica as a child musician, this class could turn into a great knowledge exchange between old and young. If you are somewhere in the middle, you will learn a lot, plus if you are a beginner, you will learn a lot.
The class will begin with instructions on how to do single notes with the harmonica, followed by instructions on how to create the best beats and rhythm, and by the end of the class, you will better know how to play the harmonica. The class is more recommended for beginners, rather than advanced harmonica.
We'll also use a fun harmonica app in the class for education.
Additional resources include Harmonica Online. Including teachings from the book Beginning Band.
For follow-up classes, we can use resources such as BrainPOP, Seesaw.me, and Kahoot! to make the learning even more fun!
Please note: I own a JSL harmonica in a standard C note with 10 holes. I'll be right in either my home office to provide a demonstration on how to play the harmonica.
