RIP Joe Turkel PS Jul 2 Joe Turkel, who played critical roles in Stanley Kubrick's movie of The Shining and Ridley Scott's Blade Runner, has died aged 94. Turkel played Lloyd, the bartender at the Overlook in the 1980 movie based on Stephen King's novel, and in 1982 appeared as Dr Eldon Tyrell, the creator of artificial humans, in Blade Runner. His career stretched back to the 1940s, and his other genre work included One Step Beyond, Land of the Giants, Fantasy Island, Tales from the Darkside and The Dark Side of the Moon.
