Charged after my long lost brother who I've been trying to find forever and immediately got sidetracked by rescuing some dude named Horowitz. Did you do that? Because I did that, then tried to do something else that came up during that and BOY am I confused.
Thus, I want to ask my blogmate about stuff, but I won't if you haven't done the Horowitz bit.
Feminina:
Is he the guy you have to follow into the place with the clocks? Some rangers got hurt and you're looking for survivors? Because I did that.
There is much in this game that is extremely confusing.
And then some things that would be less confusing if it occurred to me earlier that I could on occasion throw things at walls to break them.
That doesn't apply here, but...later. It will come up later.
Butch:
You can break walls???
Yeah, that's the guy. Clocks, clock puzzle in the hotel, escort guy, oh no, Horowitz is all hissed, yes.
That didn't confuse me.
What confused me is, after all that, I thought "Hmm. That guy sure wanted someone to deal with that 'altered thingy' in the shelter. I shall do that." I went back, and a) couldn't for the life of me cross this canyon and b) what the fuck? Have I been missing other things I was supposed to cleanse or whatever? Big assed thing just sitting there, waiting for me. How many other things have I missed? I've found notes about altered thingies but thought they were just notes! Am I missing things?
Feminina:
I don't think you've been missing other things. This one was the first one I really ran into where clearing an item was called for. Some of the notes do become relevant later, but in a specific, "hey, go do this" -- "oh, I remember a note about that" kind of way, not an "I found a note so I'm supposed to act on it right now."
Basically, don't worry, you're not missing things.
And the canyon...yeah...you cannot get over the canyon yet. I brooded over this canyon for many a long minute. Went away and came back to brood again in case I'd missed something (like maybe my ongoing problem with jumping was manifesting yet again!). Repeatedly getting into fierce battles with the Hiss along the way, of course.
But it cannot be done. Not until you get another Object of Power. So you might as well pursue the main story for a while until that shows up.
And yes, you can sometimes break walls. But not always. Not, for example, in this canyon.
But sometimes, when you're thinking "what the hell, I've been around this place 15 times exploring every corner of every room and there's no way to go any further, yet this seems to be the way I need to go" consider throwing something at a wall to see if it will give. But you realized way before me that you could shoot at points to make the red stuff blocking certain doors go away, so you'll probably spot these times immediately.
Also, don't worry, the object of power you need is not the shield power you get from the obstacle course. I don't really use that one, to be honest. But the one you need for the canyon is actually super handy and you will love it and use it all the time.
Butch:
Oh good. It is annoying as hell to get? I do not want annoying as hell to get.
I already spent WAAAAY too much time trying to find my way out of rooms. That bit in the rock quarry level where you had to go up and jump over platforms going up and down? Took FOREVER to think "up." Last night, for some reason, it did not occur to me that you could walk on the piles of clocks which, as you'll recall, you had to do to get out of a room.
Irksome.
At least the game put a fast travel point right by that canyon. Considerate, really.
That said, you know how I feel about games letting you get really close to something when you, in no way, can do it yet. Usually, if a game gives you a reason to go somewhere, and lets you get damn close, it's doable, so you try and try and try. This wastes time. Grumble.
Feminina:
Enh...you have to fight a guy in a place. The usual. Kind of annoying, but none of them are crushingly awful. So far.
