But first...

Yes, it was back in July, in the front of a house some way up the street.
Maybe people had moved out and left their excess dolls there, or some child had suddenly grown up and was considering being a teenager, and was clearing out her bedroom?
It's a rather unsettling image, isn't it?
It shouldn't be, I suppose - just a few bits of plastic, really. Then there are the black and stern vertical bars of the front fence.
Hm, yes, I suppose it is quite dramatic.

I suppose it's all that pink, oh, and the dots and the red - oh, and, of course, the big upside down blonde lass on the right - just look at those staring eyes!
It was a tricky composition. I would have liked the black bars to be vertical, but it just wouldn't work with the coloured stuff behind.
Still, the bars do look alright, like that, don't they?
I suppose I could have popped into the garden and rearranged things a bit more aesthetically, but I don't like altering the subjects in a composition - you have to make what you can of what you find, I think.
One of my favourite photographers is Robert Doisneau.
I've heard that he would arrange people and object around quite a bit to get a good shot.
I love his work, he had humour!
There doesn't seem to be much humour in art these days - everyone is so bloody manipulative and cool!
