Yes, it's an odd picture, isn't it, dear reader?
You see, I was walking along, on my way back from...
No, no, come on, let's have a look at the thing first!
You see, I was walking along, on my way back from...
From town, carrying a bag of shopping, I glanced down at the pavement, as one does as one walks, and noticed a few items of scattered debris, white debris mainly, but with a few bright colours on it. It seemed to be a chalky pottery looking sort of debris.
You couldn't really make out what it was from, but I paused in my walk and peered down. It was covering about a square foot. I think it was once a cheep, pottery, decorative, horse ornament.
It looked like someone had accidentally dropped it, or perhaps thrown it down in a fit of aesthetic anger? Amongst the chalk bits I could make out a leg, and piece of back with a tail attached - oh, and also a head. A horse's head. It had broken off nicely, and it didn't seem much damaged.
I had a quick look around the area, I didn't want to be seen poking around amongst rubbish in the street, who would? Yes, I bent over and picked it up, and slipped it into my jacket pocket - and continued on my way.
I am supposed to be a surrealist, you know!
What was I going to do with it?
I had no idea.
Perhaps it would sit on a shelf for a few years - as a conversation piece?
'I say, Dave, old chap, what's that, there, on your shelf'?
'Oh, it's just the head off a pot horse.'
'Hm... I see...'
But as I walked on, I thought that some kind of photo of it might be possible, later on in the day.
Perhaps I could stand it somewhere, somewhere with a nice background, and take a shot of it, but with his head big in the shot, and the background deliberately blurred, and distant - I think I know how to set the camera to do that sort of thing - I'll probably need to use a tripod for the camera too. What about a vague green grass garden, with hedges, and trees?
There!
That looks very nice!...
