These books are filled with stories. And there are tons of them sitting on book shelves, book stores, libraries, and where ever books are sold.
These books represent the smaller and compact version of the hardback copy.
I understand why these books are called paper, because they are made of paper. Paper from trees.
What about the 'back'? Paper based books have a back and a front, a thicker piece of paper that supports the book.
Paperback novels can be a hit or miss. Gone With the Wind was and is a hit and a miss is a book that can be described that is found on the long tail.
The point is that it took about thirty years from being introduced and finally caught wind at its sail in 1953.
Books have power and influence as physical objects that take up space and time.
A paperback novel might be irreverent to some but their influence still resonates today, as stories printed on paper. They are sources of entertainment and micro media sources that can be shared with others.
The point is although there is a saying to "never judge a book by its cover". But, I think the new phrase when it comes to paperback novels is to that "the cover should be judged" by the consumer.
