Spoilers for Hartman DLC in Control, and the beginning of Toem

Butch:

MAN Hartman is an asshole.

Finally killed Hartman. Kinda cheated at the end, but killed Hartman.

I think if there's any doubt this is going to be tied into Alan Wake 2, killing Hartman dispelled it. Our reward was basically a trailer for Alan Wake 2, wasn't it? If that wasn't a segue, what was? They even gave us a name, "Agent Estevez," who I will bet five dollars and a donut will be a huge character in Alan Wake 2.

Then, for fun, downloaded and started Toem. Took a few pictures. One of a cow, one of flies, one of a bird, as one does. Got some stamps. Rode the bus to Oaklandia or wherever. It's cute! I'm not at all sure what I'm supposed to be doing, but it's cute!

What am I supposed to be doing?

Feminina:

Hartman is the King Bastard of Bastards. With the possible exception of Tommasi, who was also a real pain to kill.

I think all you're doing in Toem is taking pictures. I'm not sure there's much of a larger story there, but it's cute and fun, so...I'm into it.

Butch:

Oh, I'm going to leave my Tommasi alone. Time to move on. My Tommasi can live out his life, flying around, cosplaying splicers. I wish him well.

Yeah, but there's more to it. There's quests and puzzles, I think. I discovered the "compendium," but I think there's more to it than just a scavenger hunt. The trophy list has things like "Complete all the quests in such and such" and "complete such and such puzzles." Maybe this will become clear. No doubt the primary interface is the camera. I don't think it's just "take whatever pictures you want and enjoy!" I think.

Feminina:

Oh yeah, there are definitely little quests and puzzles. I just meant they all involve taking pictures of things, hence wandering around taking pictures of things is what the game is about.

You get to help the community by taking pictures! It's wholesome and adorable.

Butch:

Figured, but I still have no earthly idea HOW to help the community. I took a picture of grandma, there. I found the dude's clogs ahead of time ("Oh! You've found them already!" "Well, yeah, dude. Jamrock Shuffle and all."). I'd love to solve some puzzles! I just can't seem to find any puzzles.

It's early, though.

I do kinda love the developer is called "Something We Made." To the point, that.

And they're Swedish! What's with us and Scandanavia this year? Europe in general? We've only played two games were made someplace other than Europe all year and one was published by a French company (True Colors) and one took place in Scandanavia because it's 2022! The year of the Scandanavian banana!

Don't worry, the puzzles start in the next section. The first area is just about poking around.

Butch:

Ah. I didn't mind the poking around!

Talk about a difference in loot.

Toem Dude: I found clogs!

Jesse: Clogs? Pfft. I find astral thought fragments all the time.

TD: I bet those aren't as comfy!

Jesse: Umm....never thought of that....

TD: I'm starting to figure out why you levitate everywhere! Sore feet!
