And about time too, I hear people say. I'd been meaning to read them for years but just hadn't got around to it. Partly, it was one of those series that I sort of already knew a lot about one way or another. I guess that after reading N.K.Jemisin's The World We Make I wanted something fantastical based in a city I knew better, so I finally launched into it. I'm partway through the most recent (Amongst Our Weapons) but have skipped some of the novellas.
I've been listening to the audiobooks narrated by Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, which are excellently done. The actor brings a lot of personality to Peter Grant but also builds up the broader cast of characters in a way that makes it feel more like an audio dramatisation.
Very entertaining but I don't think I'll be writing a review. The novels are what they appear to be, a mix of supernatural fantasy and police procedural with a very London unflappableness and wit. A clever premise, well executed.
