But first...
Dulltown, UK: Today's elephant in the room is the drunken one insisting on sitting on the host's lap.

Hm, yes, those forensic shows on the TV.
They go through their past cases and make a half hour, or a full hour, programme about the most interesting ones. The shows come mainly from the USA, but sometimes Australia, or New Zealand, and sometimes the UK. I don't tend to watch the UK ones, they are a bit too close to home for me, the others are of course at a nice distance away.
Sometimes the parts are played by actors, and sometimes the detectives and forensic people play themselves.
The real detectives, well in the US shows, seem to visually fall into two types.
The big fat ones, and the lean ones.
The big fat ones have enormous shoulders on them, when sitting, a true circular arc from elbow to elbow with a round head on top - they have no neck, and they like to wear big hats, and they wear them, for some reason, indoors too.
The lean ones, are lean, wear slim suits, and they have soft voices, and hard sad eyes, that have seen far too much suffering.
As I might have mentioned before, I tend to watch these things with a guitar on my lap. Blues riffs and slow chords usually sound alright over the stupid mayhem of those silly human culprits. I sometimes jot down some of the dialogue and voice over of the good guys just for times like this, too:
A Sunday in a quiet residential neighborhood - something unexpected left on a lawn - devious ways to gain financially - a forged letter - a two-time widow? - police had a plan - nothing was adding up - powder burns? - just a signature on a will? - a tangible clue - a sudden infusion of cash - ruin was ahead - his ordeal wasn't over! - rejected all charges - yes, but who had a motive? - he was eight-hundred miles away? - eliminated as a suspect, at last - then, a shocking piece of information - the red flags jumped out at me! - it was the back-spatter! - stalking and harassing - now even more diligently - but there was just one thing in common - she said she kept it for protection - cellphone records show it - first degree! - at 1.46 am in the morning! - 38 caliber? - far more serious - out drinking with friends - we finally locked him to the crime - arrest warrant issued - no remorse - twenty to life!...
