Hello everyone and happy Monday! I hope that you had a beautiful Christmas and are still relaxing and enjoying yourself. This year I and my boyfriend didn't have the best of luck with our working schedule, but we managed to celebrate all the same, even if it was a tad rushed! I hope we would have more luck next year! Anyway, I am still in a sort of a slump, which is not as bad as it was but I am not really back to normal, but lately, I am reading shorter and fast-paced books, so I have read quite a lot.
What am I reading?
I have started The Curse of Tenth Grave because I need to know what to do with this series. This is the 10th book, as the title suggests, and I loved the first books a lot. The humor in there is so on point, and Reyes alone is an amazing reason to read this series. Yes, I know. I am shallow. But come on! We are talking about Reyes! And up until the 7th, given or taken, things were amazing, and then... I was more annoyed than anything else with the books. But I loved the previous ones so much, so I decided to try one more and see how things go from there. This would make or break it for me! But... so far things are good, and I am feeling pretty optimistic! And then I started another SPSFC book, Ghosts of Tomorrow. I was a tad scared to go back to this one because the first 10% was pretty good (really good!) but it was also quite hard and bleak. Things so far are not getting better, on that side, but are not getting worse, and the book is still really good so... yay!
What have I read?
As I was saying before, I read a lot of short and fast-paced books, and so here we are! Hellbound Guilds & Other Misdirections is the second book in this series, and it is quite a fast and captivating reading. The main character is funny and the story is quite fast, and even if there were some things that didn't really sit so well with me, it was a really nice book and I am looking forward to the next one! The Astral Hacker is a YA full of action and interesting ideas, even if I am not the biggest fan, but I hope to talk more about it, and about The Unpleasantness At Baskerville Hall soon, since both are SPSFC books. Maybe I'll write a review for this week, but I can't really say at the moment! Westside is different from my usual choices, and it is an interesting book. I didn't fall in love with it, and I won't read the sequel, but it has a lot of good things going all the same. Spellbound is set in the same period as Westside, but is way more lighthearted and it has some sweet characters! It is a sweet book, with an interesting plot that keeps things going. It is not memorable but I would read the second one, sooner or later!
What Would I Read?
I can still change my mind, because even if I really want to read this one, it is quite chunky and I do not know if I am really feeling in the right mood, but at the moment this is the next book I am planning to read!
Blogging and Personal Life
I can't believe that the end of the year is almost above us! I keep telling myself that, and I keep telling myself that I should get to work on all the "end of the year" posts, with the best and worst, and with a recap of the series I finished, the goals, and all that. But I keep procrastinating like a pro! So I don't really know what I'll manage to do this week, because work is quite intense at the moment and my boyfriend's parents are coming to visit till the end of the year so... I may go on a small hiatus until they are here because I don't really know if I would have the time to write anything at all!
As I was saying before, my working schedule and my boyfriend's weren't really synched this year, he was at home on the 23rd and the 24th, and I was at home on the 25th, so it was not really the best. But we managed to spend the 24th at my parents, and we get to stuff ourselves on good food (and this is quite important... yay!) because, lucky me, I got off work quite early.
And tomorrow my "in laws" should arrive and stay with us till the end of the year. And I have work on top of that (and I am not the happiest about my working schedule this week, either, but... I guess I can't have it all, right??). Anyway, even if we didn't celebrate big we managed to celebrate and even if it was a bit tiring, it was good to have some time to spend celebrating.
And what about you? How was your week? And did you celebrate Christmas? Or if you don't celebrate, did you get a chance to relax all the same?? Let me know!
Happy reading!
S.
