Hello everyone! I can't believe it but it seems like I am finally able to write a recap for this meme, even if I took my sweet time to do it, but better later than never, or so they say!
I really love this meme and I have added a ton of books to my TBR thanks to the book community, and I loved it! (Even if my wallet and my TBR aren't really so happy… but who cares?!?!) And sharing the blame around (or the gratitude, it all depends on how you watch the thing, really) was fun. So I would keep up with it this new year, too, but adding new books to the never-ending list of things to read is quite easy (and to be honest, I constantly add them, I am way beyond hope, sorry not sorry), the hard part is reading them… so how I fared in 2022?
This year I have added 43 books to my TBR only with this meme! And they are a lot, but the good thing is that they are fewer than last year. 13 books less! I think it has more to do with my frequent hiatus than anything else, but I am still glad to see the numbers getting a bit lower. I am always happy to add new books, but maybe I am also trimming down a bit all the new (and not-so-new) shiny things out there! And I have read 15 of them, so... not bad! Sure, I could have done better, but that's a good number all the same! It's the same number of books I have read last year, too, but this year I was luckier with the qualities of my reading. Sure, I didn't love all the books I have read from this list, but I have enjoyed them all, and while last year I was disappointed in some of the books, the same didn't happen this year. Sure, I didn't love all the books, and I was hoping too but even the ones I didn't love weren't really disappointing, simply different maybe from what I was expecting, or just not such a right fit for me. So, I am count this as a positive!
And let's see which were the best books from this list I read this year! Some of them feature in the Best Books Of 2022 part 1 and 2, so I would just mention them quickly, and then I'll talk a bit more about the ones that I loved but that didn't make it in the main list of amazing books!
These books were all amazing and I am really looking forward to the sequels of the two series in there, the one by Ryan Van Loan and the one by Essa Hansen. The first books were amazing. And the same goes for the two stand-alone in there. 100% recommended!
The Bone Ships didn't get a place on the Best Reading of 2022 for a hair's breadth. And I am reconsidering that decision, to be honest, because it is a great book, with a solid plot, an amazing world-building, and some pretty intriguing characters. I get why all the hype for this book, and I am looking forward to continuing this series. The Utterly Uninteresting & Unadventurous Tales Of Fred, The Vampire Accountant has a heck of a title, and it is a nice book, highly original and even if it's not my favorite book ever, I would continue the series and see how things progress because it's original and the right book to take a break with. Karen Memory is a highly original book, and I don't really know what didn't work with it. I mean, I enjoyed it and I am happy to have read it but I won't continue the series, because even if I appreciated the reading I wasn't really involved or invested as much as I wanted, but it's a book that has good ideas and good characters too! And, last but not least, there is a book that left me quite torn. On one hand, I was enraged by it. On the other, I was engrossed in the reading, and on the whole, I had a good time with it. I was invested in the characters and I was captivated by the writing. I loved it as much as I hated it. And it was strange, but I can say that this moved me, for sure!
So, I have all of you to thank for these books, and I hope to discover a ton more this year!!
