Spoilers for some battles in Baldur's Gate

I must rant about that difficulty spike. The FUCK were those people in the Undercellar? And where's Saravok? And c'mon, game, you can't let me use real spells without killing innocents and stuff?

THE HELL???

I am also going to call some shenanigans. Here, we see what we've seen before: Some dude does like, 42 points of damage every hit. I finally win and say "Goody! I shall get the thingy that caused 42 damage every hit!" and all I can find is a +2 short sword or some shit. What the hell? How was this guy fucking me up that badly with THAT?

Shenanigans.

Feminina:

Slythe and Krysten are real jerks, huh? I went back and forth with them a fair number of times, and had to take a couple of people to the temple to be raised afterwards.

And then it turned out they didn't even have any great loot. But they had invitations to some fancy event, so there's that. Plus now you don't have that as an unfinished quest on your list, which is also good.

I can only assume that he was all magicked up and had super strength in order to do that damage. Sigh.

Butch:

Bunch of bullshit, getting me all hyped for a special weapon and getting a damn short sword. Bah. I want to do damage!

Yes, I got the invites to the special thing. I went to the special thing. The whole damn room turned into doppelgangers and I died. How the hell am I supposed to deal with that? There's two friendly people in there! I can't barbecue them, can I?

I don't know what to do!

Feminina:

Yeah...I had questions about that set up as well. A few times.

Butch:

So, what did you do?

Also, what was with that guy charging ten gold to get in and you having the choice to fight him about it? Who, at this point in the game, cares about ten gold?

Feminina:

Just giving you options in case you decided not to fight Slythe and Kristen, I guess?

So what I did was hide in one of the side rooms and send one person into the main room to trigger the (very, very long) conversation, and then that person retreated back into the side room and we just held that space: attacked any doppelgangers who came in after us, but didn't get involved in the main battle and so didn't risk hitting friendly people.

I don't know if that's the absolute best thing to do, but it's what I did (eventually), and we all survived, so make of that what you will.

Butch:

That's what I was thinking. Send in "Mad Dash" Khalid, there.

At least I'm almost done. Am I almost done? Are you done?

Feminina:

Are you almost done. Well. That's what I was thinking at this point, but no. Not really. I mean, this seems like it could be a near- final battle, right?

It is not. I mean, I don't know exactly how much longer it goes because I'm not done yet, so you could get there before me and maybe it's not that much. I think I have to be close to the final battle right now. But there are a number of other battles in between.

Butch:

Jeez. I take back my "But I'm not close to level ten" concern. This is starting to remind me of Greedfall (remember that?). That game, the last fourteen, fifteen playing sessions we thought we were done and then we weren't.

Of course, we still haven't met someone I keep expecting to meet.

I turned down the difficulty. With hockey and having to pick people up, ain't got no time for that shit.

And it still isn't over?????
