Minor spoilers for Baldur's Gate DLC about Sarevok's sword
Butch:
Did I mention I don't like this time of year?
The fact that I wrote "Monday," deleted it, wrote "Wednesday," deleted it, wrote "Tuesday" before realizing I was right the first time should let you know that I got nothing.
Playdates. End of year parties. Band. So. Much. Band. Today, Meatball has a band rehearsal from five to six, and Nugget has hockey from five to six. In different places. I'm still wondering how that's gonna work.
I want to hang out with crazy Neera.
Feminina:
How IS that going to work? It's a cruel time of year.
I helped the lady with the invisible ink quest and then advanced about 10 feet into the dungeon. Dorn seems the same as usual. Safana...has a tendency to say "yes, sweetheart?" that feels overly familiar for our relationship, but otherwise hasn't disturbed me as much as before. I think Viconia has a different voice to go with her different picture, but she is otherwise as before. Everyone has their loot. (Imoen has some loot I would like to get back, but apparently it's just too awkward to ask.)
Butch:
Imoen has MAD loot I want to get back! At least she wasn't holding on to the potion case. That would've been awful.
Wait, you did that quest? Or just took it?
And what was with that guy on the other side of the busted bridge right when we got there? I was all "Who? What?" and he was all "Uh, whatever" and he left and I got no quest.
I'm paraphrasing.
And yes, here is the afternoon:
Leave at two to pick Junior up at school at 235 (if you don't get in line, forget about ever getting out). Drive eldest to be at work at 3. Haul ass home to get Meatball off the bus. Feed Meatball and Nugget. Maybe, then, what, get Nugget to the rink early, say "Just...uh...take your time putting pads on," go straight from there to take Meatball to band at five, maybe tell Nugget "Oh, and take your time getting your pads off cuz I'm gonna be late," get Nugget around, what, 620 or so, then haul ass to the high school because Junior has a band concert of his own at 730, try to remember to take blankets, chairs and bug spray cuz the concert is outside, take Meatball and Nugget home, go BACK to high school around 945 cuz there's a dessert party for the band AFTER the concert, and then have dinner. And drinks. Lots of drinks.
This is not gnome.
Feminina:
Oh man, if she had the potion case I might have had to re-do the entire last fight to take it away from her. Fortunately, I hang onto those things myself.
Though it was nice of them to give us another gem bag!
Maybe because I'm a mage, I had a conversation option to say "do you really need cobalt moss? I think you could use xyz" and she said "oh, good idea!" and did it and it worked and boom the quest was done right there. I assume otherwise I would have had to find cobalt moss somewhere and bring it to her.
Which means now I'm going to find it and think "well, this is totally useless..."
Butch:
Another gem bag? Where? Let me at it!
I really should take the scroll case away from Neera, what with her going crazy and all.
Oh, man, the "dialog based on ability and/or class" thing! Yeah, I didn't get that chance. Maybe I'll go have Neera talk to her. Yes, I have been tasked with finding cobalt moss. Though, gotta say, the fact the game had SO MANY dialog options that were "Yeah, you're a bad guy" often means that the game is trying to tell us she's a bad guy. We shall see.
But seriously, did you get anything out of that dude on the other side of the bridge? He mentioned a sword. He was before the mage with the moss.
Feminina:
No, I was all "hey, tell what's-her-name if she surrenders she'll be spared" and he said "wait, you're not with us? Bye!" or something, and ran off. I think it was atmospheric rather than informational.
And I DID notice how many options we had to accuse that lady of being a bad guy, which was curious. As you say, it likely means she actually is, and I helped her get invisible ink to further a terrible and destructive end...but that's life, you know? I'm too trusting for my own good sometimes.
I choose to believe the best of people, in hopes of steering my soul away from the darkness that consumed my half-brother!
Butch:
I do, too. Well, that and the hope that doing a quest will get me more XP than just killing dudes.
What? I can stay on Gorion's path AND be practical.
I also just thought, wouldn't it have been awesome that if you saying "Tell her if she surrenders she'll be spared" led to her surrendering and ending the DLC?
I would respect that.
Feminina:
Ha! I would really love that. I mean, I would feel slightly cheated, but so respectful of that awesome move that I would also love it.
Butch:
I'd forgive it. We certainly have gotten our money's worth already, and we have a whole other game to play!
Feminina:
Especially if it also said "take 8 million XP for savvy diplomacy, you are now level 10!"
Butch:
Oh, dude.
Now I'm worried it would've done that.
Man, I want to play. I do not want to spend the next four hours running around.
Feminina:
Nah, it would never have done that. It would have been more like "way to go, problem-solving yourself out of an entire adventure! You don't want to play this material we so painstakingly put together for you...FINE."
